Render and exterior wall cleaning in Cornwall
Care for the building's finish, not just its first impression. Cleaning for suitable rendered and exterior wall surfaces, with the material, condition and source of discolouration considered together.
Not every discoloured wall needs the same treatment
A rendered elevation may show organic growth, dirt, water tracks, weathering or a mixture of these. Colour alone does not diagnose the problem. The type of render or coating, its age and any cracking matter before a method is selected. Kernow Clean welcomes residential and commercial wall-cleaning enquiries across Cornwall, including occupied and managed properties.
Rendered elevations
Supply the render brand or installation documents if available. Different finishes have different care requirements. Include photographs showing the whole elevation as well as the most noticeable marks.
Painted exterior surfaces
Tell us when the surface was last painted and whether paint is peeling or powdering. Washing does not renew a failed paint system, and an underlying maintenance issue may need attention first.
Surrounding details
Windows, vents, seals, roof edges, planting and neighbouring property all affect the work. Identify areas that must remain accessible and anything particularly sensitive nearby.
Soft washing is an approach—not a universal cure
The term soft washing generally describes lower-pressure cleaning or treatment, but the label alone does not prove suitability for a wall. The actual finish, manufacturer's care advice, products and working conditions must be considered. K Rend publishes guidance for caring for its render; that guidance is not approval of every treatment or every installer. Cracks, loose finishes, damaged seals and unexplained damp should be assessed before cleaning proceeds.
Material-care reference: K Rend render-care guidance. The guidance is background information, not an endorsement of this business; the actual product and site govern suitability.
A useful first enquiry
What to send for a quotation
- Postcode and photographs of each elevation
- Approximate height and size, plus extensions or conservatories
- Render or coating type, age and any manufacturer information
- Close-ups of cracks, discolouration or previous repair areas
- Access, nearby planting, drainage and occupancy requirements
Beyond the visit
Results and aftercare
Ask what result to expect immediately and whether any agreed treatment has a longer process. Cleaning cannot guarantee uniform colour where a finish has weathered differently, nor permanently prevent growth from returning. Keeping an eye on leaking rainwater goods and persistently damp areas can help identify maintenance issues affecting the wall.
Photographs help the initial assessment. They do not replace any necessary inspection or agreement of the method, scope and access before work.
Your questions, answered
Can you clean K Rend or another branded render?
Send the exact product details and photographs for assessment. Suitability depends on the finish and condition; the product name alone is not enough to confirm a method.
Will cleaning remove all red, green or black marks?
Not necessarily. Their cause and how deeply the surface is affected need to be considered. Existing weathering or staining can remain and should be discussed before work.
Is high-pressure washing suitable for render?
It should not be assumed. Inappropriate pressure can affect vulnerable finishes. The quotation should be based on the actual material, condition and proposed approach.
Can cleaning fix damp or cracks?
No. Cleaning is not building repair, waterproofing or a damp diagnosis. If defects are visible, the appropriate specialist may need to assess them first.
